The Illinois Administrators Academy (IAA), provides opportunities for professional growth and enrichment. School administrators in Illinois must take one IAA session every year to maintain their Professional Educator License (PEL). The IAA Chicago is the only place in our city where school leaders can take this important coursework. In 2016, Chicago Public Schools ended its direct financial support of the IAA Chicago, which left local school leaders without a familiar and trusted local option for these critical courses. Fortunately, CPAA took on the expense of continuing to operate these courses so that CPS principals, assistant principals, and administrators would not have to seek out alternatives that would be farther away and more costly. Thanks to our organization Chicago school leaders still have a local option for courses that provide principals, administrators, and other school leaders with workshops and development opportunities to enhance their professional growth and meet the requirements of Professional Educator License.
