Utilizing the components and elements of Domain 3 of Danielson’s “Enhancing Professional Practice: Framework for Teaching,” this academy class builds on the work of Danielson and adds the research of others to deepen an understanding of powerful instruction. Using elements of effective CCSS-M instruction, participants will work collaboratively to provide an in-depth definition and description of the components of powerful, purposeful math instruction. This knowledge will be used to analyze classroom instruction, develop strategies, and develop skills in providing teachers with meaningful feedback to improve math instruction. Participants will learn coaching techniques that will be used in reflective conversations about classroom practice.
