Re-Envisioning Student Engagement in Mathematics Instruction (#3867)
Friday, January 9, 202
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
$195.00
Utilizing elements of "A Framework for Engagement with Mathematics " by Dr. Catherine Attard, this academy builds on her work and adds research of others to deepen a vision and understanding of the role of student engagement in the process of improving mathematics instruction. Participants will work collaboratively to provide a description of student engagement elements within the culture of a classroom's instructional program. This knowledge will be used to enhance leadership skills in providing teachers with meaningful feedback about their classroom culture, planning, practice and assessment of instruction that impacts student mathematics engagement and ultimately reduces math learning loss.
Principal/Teacher Evaluator Retraining: Student Growth (#3000)**
Wednesday, January 14, 2026
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
$195.00
Participants will learn how to:
Use assessments and measurement models identified by the Joint Committee in determining student growth attributable to individual principals/teachers and understand how different types of assessments are used for measuring growth.
Use data from the evaluation rubric, other evidence collected, and best practices relative to evaluating student growth to link principal/teacher and school-level professional development plans to evaluation results.
In collaboration with principal/teachers, create supportive, targeted professional development plans that consider past results, contribute to professional growth, and assist teachers and principals in aligning professional development and goal-setting to school improvement goals.
Communicate evaluation outcomes and findings in constructive and supportive ways that enable teachers/principals to set goals and improve practice.
Using Student Growth Data from Diverse Populations in Teacher Performance Evaluation (#4114)**
Thursday, February 5, 2026
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
$195.00
The one-day course focuses on understanding implicit bias, differentiating for equity, and coaching more deeply when evaluating student growth for special education, English learners, and early childhood students. ACE Instructional Leadership in the Age of Al: Advancing Observations, Evaluations, and Feedback (#4202)
Wednesday, February 11, 2026
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
$195.00
In today's rapidly evolving educational environment, artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping instructional leadership practices.
This professional learning experience equips school and district administrators to strategically leverage AI while prioritizing safety, ethics, equity, and instructional excellence. Participants will learn critical frameworks to evaluate AI-generated content for bias, privacy, and developmental appropriateness. They will engage with research-based tools and resources to guide responsible decision-making and lead age-appropriate discussions with staff and students about AI integration. Through a hands-on instructional coaching simulation, participants will apply generative AI to support a hypothetical teacher across multiple Danielson Framework domains, gaining experience in designing AI-supported feedback, professional development, and supervision strategies. This academy strengthens leaders' capacity to critically analyze AI use in schools, accelerate instructional coaching cycles, and model ethical technology leadership - building the confidence needed to lead AI integration with both skill and discernment.

Effective feedback can be an important strategy in addressing the complex issues of student learning loss and improving teachers' professional practice. Utilizing elements of "Thanks for the Feedback" by Douglas Stone and Sheila Henn, this academy builds on the concepts in their work and adds research of others to create a vision and understanding of how to use feedback as a critical part of improving the teaching and learning environment and the overall pandemic-recovery plan of schools. Participants will work collaboratively to provide a description of effective feedback within the diversity, equity and inclusion values of classroom instruction. This knowledge will be used to enhance leadership skills in professional conversations with teachers focused on improving instructional culture and addressing student learning loss with effective feedback.
Using Effective Feedback to Improve Teaching and Learning (#3955)
Teacher Evaluator Competency Skill Building for Pre-Qualified Teacher Evaluators (#1448)**
Thursday, March 5, 2026
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
$195.00
Administrators who evaluate teachers must demonstrate a high rate of inter-rater reliability and communicate evaluation outcomes in constructive and supportive ways. Administrators who evaluate teachers must also recognize and control for bias when conducting an evaluation and determining results. School districts in Illinois must provide professional development to administrators to strengthen these skills on a sustained basis.
This course focuses on Domains 2 and 3 and is intended to move administrators who have passed the ISBE evaluator training and who are very familiar with Charlotte Danielson’s 2011/2013 Framework for Teaching, from compliance to competency.
This course requires participants to view teaching, record data according to the Professional Practice rubric and participate in mock evaluation conferences as evaluator, teacher or observer. Participants will also be expected to have a high degree of inter-rater reliability when they determine a final rating based on the evidence gathered during the observations.
**Teacher Evaluator Retraining Courses — Completion of two academies is required to meet the retraining requirement -- one course that addresses Teacher Practice and, the other course addresses Student Growth. These two courses must be completed within the five-year renewal cycle and need not be completed within the same calendar year.
